About me

I’m Cesario, (sez-AHR-ee-oh, or chez-AHR-ee-oh if you’re a paisan’), an illustrator and research-driven writer and comics maker living and working on the island of Tiohtià:ke, or Montréal.
My current project is DER EYDES, an ongoing serialized graphic work about an old Kafka book, a state-suppressed psychiatrist, and a family mystery. DER EYDES has been supported by a Canada Council for the Arts Research & Creation Grant, a Microgrant for Cultural and Creative Exploration from the Museum of Jewish Montreal, and a MacDowell Fellowship, and is distributed by the wonderful Sheer Spite Press.
As a kid, I learned to draw by watching my big sister Yonah make Homeric fanart, and through making zines about Poirot, The Last Unicorn, and Star Trek with my bestie Alison. I like black licorice, black coffee, hand-lettering, freshly ironed linen shirts, and sea breezes.
